Extension services

Legal Aid & Legal Literacy

The college has been running Legal Aid Clinic since Academic Year 1983-84. The purpose of this scheme is to increase social awareness among the students and to expose them to the practical aspects of the legal process. The programmes of the clinic include Legal Aid Camps, spreading Legal Literacy among the various groups of people, rendering Para Legal Services, etc. For this purpose students cell will be constituted in the beginning of every academic year. Interested students may enroll their names in the students' cell. The activities of the Legal Aid Clinic shall be treated as a part of the practical training course prescribed for the second year of the Three Year Law Course and Fourth Year of the Five Year Law Course. The main object is to give legal advice and free legal aid to needy rural litigants by organizing legal literacy camps in the villages.
The Legal Aid Clinic of our college receives a grant of Rs.10,000/- from Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority. So far, we have organized around 200 Legal Aid and Literacy camps since 1983. The needy are advised on legal matters and suitable cases are forwarded to The District Legal Services Authority for further action. For year 2006-07 and 2007-08 an amount of Rs.1,00,000/- and Rs.80,000/- respectively were received for implementing different legal aid and legal literacy programmes. Accordingly, following major activities were organized by our Clinic.
1. 7 Days Para-Legal Training Workshop for Social Workers
2. 3 Days Workshop for Women on Women Related Laws
3. 2 Days Workshop for Industrial Labour

Para Legal Aid Services

From this year, our college started to visit Sangli Jail (Class-II), Sangli as Para Legal Aid Services for students of SY. LL.B. & PL - IV under the guidance of Shri. P. S. Paranjape, Hon'ble Principal District & Session Judge, Sangli. This activity was evolved in the decision of Honorable Bombay High Court. In this activity, our students collect the information from under trial prisoners who are arrested for the petty offences. The collected data is duly sent to District & Session Judge, Sangli. This work is deputed to District Legal Service Authority by him. Then this data is again deputed to concern Taluka District Legal Service Authority by them. The object behind jail visit is only to give motion to the proceedings of undertrial prisoners who are arrested for petty offences. By their concerned Taluka Legal Service Authority, the prisoners get the Legal Aid.

Consultancy Services

The college renders the consultancy services on matters of banking, conveyance, taxation, etc. The prominent clients include Sangli Chamber of Commerce, Co-operative Banks across Sangli District.

Social Service

On every 1st January, the college organizes Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Rotary Club / Dr. Shirgaonkar Blood Bank. Teaching and Non-teaching Staff, students voluntarily donate blood as a part of social services.
